I'm a regular
i am a bartender at a fine dining restaurant in austin and a regular at opal divines penn field.
their food is amazing- the best in pub grub- and their tequila and scotch selection is the best in austin.
their specialty drinks are tasty too.
because i frequent this joint, i am aware of the situation with the pagan group.
i witnessed on a very very busy friday night that the pagan group came in, sat in a waiter's section, and proceeded to order coffee with cream and demand refills every 3 minutes, throw a fit about having their party on one check (which IS the restaurant's policy, by the way) then was rude to the server when he seemed annoyed.
i saw this firsthand and was sitting at a table a few feet away enjoying a delicious cocktail.
First of all, basic common restaurant etiquite is: 1.don't ever be even slightly rude, mean anything to your server (hello? they control what you are putting in your body!) --also, those pagans might get this, what about the transference of energy through food and vibrations, eh?
2.don't go to a BAR on a friday night and order coffee, just don't do it. go to a coffeeshop (this especially applies if ruta maya's is next door).
if you need to eat, fine, eat and go--no campers!
3.Simply abide by policies the establishment has put into place, for example, 'no split checks' or 'gratuity added to parties of 6 or more'. Why are you above the law?
I just thought I could help to clarify, from an objective point of view, the situation that had already been posted. I have begun to get to know many of the servers on a personal level and I can tell you that they are all friendly, intelligent and kind (otherwise they would not be employed there).
Also, a few of them are highly spiritual, grounded individuals, practice yoga regularly and value non-judgement and peace.
I just think that pagan guy's comments were rude, so i'd like to defend my favorite waitstaff.
These waiters might even be more spiritually evolved than his group of choice!
