Sweet speakeasy feel, right downtown.
I used to work in an office building down at the end of 6th Street, and the Elephant Bar was a nice diversion for some good jazz and a couple of drinks. You enter by going down the stairs into a long room with a long bar on one side and a stage at the far end.

It feels like a place for locals only, and I saw some good local bands play there. It's a great alternative to the 6th Street craziness. Upstairs there's a place with pretty good sushi, so you can hit one location and call it a night. - Elliot , posted 09/29/04
Good for jazz
Just by looking at your profile - if you like Jazz music you should check out the Elephant Room over on Congress (and groovy little underground jazz club) or Jazz on 6th - a great restaurant and jazz club. Hope that helps! - Holli , posted 08/23/04
